  • This session invites participants to explore their relationship to the land beyond occupation and use. Grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing, we examine the role of land acknowledgments, storytelling, and original place names as essential practices for respectful engagement, accountability, and meaningful reconciliation in outdoor spaces.

  • Mountain professionals spend their careers moving through active wildlife habitats. This session provides a practical introduction to key species, seasonal sensitivities, and the cumulative impacts of human presence while highlighting how informed, respectful practices support coexistence and long-term access.

  • Outdoor work exposes us to beauty, purpose, and belonging, but also to loss.

This session challenges the idea that emotional struggle reflects weakness or incompetence. Using Indigenous ways of knowing, participants are invited to understand grief as a relational response to land, people, and responsibility. The presentation creates space for collective understanding in industries that often isolate individuals.
