Mustang Powder Lodge - AST 1
A 5-day, 5-night Avalanche Skills Training 1 course based out of Mustang Powder Lodge. Expect full days of ski touring and learning!
Pre-Requites:
Aged 16+
Physically Capable (must be willing to walk 5 KM+ uphill, enjoy long days outside, and carry a minimum 15 LBS).
Self Identify as Indigenous
Intermediate to Expert Skier or Snowboarder
A Desire to Build an Inclusive Outdoor Community.

Mike Wiegele AST 1
This course continues a vision that was deeply important to Mike Wiegele, the founder of Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing. During one of their annual Simpcw Youth Snowboard Camps, a conversation emerged about young people who leave the program and continue exploring the mountains on their own. Mike believed strongly that they should have the knowledge and skills needed to do so safely.
Throughout the two-day course, participants learned to identify mountain hazards, travel safely in avalanche terrain, and practice essential rescue skills with transceivers, shovels, and probes.

We wrapped up an amazing AST 1 at Mustang Powder Lodge! We spent the days on the snow learning about avalanche safety, exploring a wide range of terrain, and forming some new connections. New skills were gained, friendships made, and the stoke for next winter is higher than ever!
