About Us

Our Mission

The IBST course seeks to foster collaborative relationships between local First Nations and backcountry operators.

To inspire a deep appreciation for ancestral knowledge, environmental stewardship, and personal growth, inviting participants to embark on a journey that honours the Indigenous communities that have sustained it for generations.

Our Goals

  • To get experienced First Nations skiers and snowboarders into the backcountry, have them experience riding powder snow and travelling in mountainous terrain.

  • Provide an educational experience that provides the connections and support for our participants to continue their journey into the industry.

  • To build a community of trained outdoor enthusiasts who can train and recreate together in the future.

Our Commitment to Safety

We believe that with the right training and knowledge, everyone can enjoy the backcountry safely.

We are committed to providing our students with the skills and knowledge they need to make informed decisions in the backcountry.
